Barron’s: “The Dow Is Stuck In a Rut – and Even Earnings Might Not Get It Going”

… “Part of the reason for the low volatility is that correlation between asset classes have tumbled in the U.S., which means moves in one sector are canceling moves in another. “The average correlation to the S&P 500 across the 11 major sectors was 0.69 over the last 30 days, lower than the Q1 average of 0.76,” writes DataTrek’s Nicholas Colas. “That the 11 sectors of the S&P can chart their own daily path is a healthy sign investors remain more focused on fundamentals than central bank policy”…
